Romulin Huizar-Barforth, 17 of Racine has been charged with one count of Burglary-Building or Dwelling, and four counts of Resisting or Obstructing an Officer. He was given a $1,000 cash bond after making his initial appearance in court Wednesday afternoon. According to Racine County Jail records a hold has also been placed on him by Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
According to the criminal complaint, on November 10,2015 at 12:19 p.m. multiple officers responded to the 1900 block of Grange Ave for a burglary in progress. The caller observed three males at a residence when he witnessed one of the kick the door in and all three enter the property. The witness was able to give descriptions of all three suspects. Officers arrived within one minute after being dispatched and saw 2 males exit the property. The suspect later identified as the defendant was wearing a red hoodie and carrying a back page. The second subject was wearing a black hoodie.
The officer yelled “Stop! Police!” at which time both the subjects outside saw him and ran south from the scene, as this was happening the third suspect exited the residence wearing a dark hoodie and carrying a back pack and ran in the same direction as the other two did, and the officer started to pursuing them. A perimeter was set up in the area where the suspects allegedly scale a fence and run through a field, the complaint states.
The complaint states that the defendant was taken into custody in the 1700 block of Flett Ave. Racine Police retraced the suspects’ flight path and located two backpacks, a lighter, an I-phone, charger and a gold watch. The victims were able to positively identify their personal belongings which were taken in the burglary.
