1820 – Ezra Wheeler Born

On this date Ezra Wheeler was born in New York.  He moved to Berlin, Wisconsin in 1849, where he practiced law. He was a member of the state Assembly in 1853 and judge in Green Lake County from 1854 to 1862. Wheeler served in Congress as a Democrat from March 4, 1863 to March 3, 1865, after which he resumed the practice of law in Berlin, Wisconsin. Due to failing health, he moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 1870 where he was appointed register of the land office on June 27, 1871. He served in this capacity until his death on September 19, 1871. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Berlin, Wisconsin. [Source: ]
