1829 – Alexander Stewart Born

On this date, Alexander Stewart was born in Fredericton, Canada. He relocated to Wisconsin in 1849, settling where present-day Wausau is now located and engaged in the lumber business. Stewart began his national political career as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1884 and he was subsequently elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth through Fifty-sixth Congresses (March 4, 1895-March 3, 1901). He died in Washington, D.C. on May 24, 1912. Stewart is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau, Wisconsin. [Source: ]
