1862 – (Civil War) 8th Light Artillery mustered in

The 8th Wisconsin Light Artillery, also known as Lyons’ Pinery Battery, was mustered in at Racine. The battery would go on to fight in the battles of Corinth, Perryville, Stones River, and Chickamauga, as well as in the Georgia Campaign and the siege of Chattanooga. It lost 28 men: one officer and one enlisted man were killed in combat and 28 others died from disease.
