1865 – (Civil War) 43rd Infantry Mustered Out

The 43rd Wisconsin Infantry left Wisconsin for Nashville, Tennessee, on October 10, 1864, and remained in Tennessee for the duration of the war. Its services included guarding railroads and supplies, the repulse of the attack on Johnsonville, and guard duty along the Nashville & Chattanooga Railroad line. Only one member was killed in combat, but 72 died from disease during its short service.
