1868 – Edwin B. Quiner Dies

On this date Edwin B. Quiner died. Quiner was born on the east coast, but moved to Watertown in 1850 where he published the , an organ of the Wisconsin Sons of Temperance. He also published the , a literary paper. In the late 1850s, he settled in Madison. During the Civil War, he began to systematically gather and save materials for , completed in May of 1866, which documented history and organization of the .
