1876 – Julius Peter Heil Born

On this day in history was born in Duesmond, Germany. In 1901 Heil formed the Heil Rail Joint Company in Milwaukee. He was elected governor in 1938, but spent most of his time in Milwaukee as president of the Heil Company, which contributed heavily to the United States’ effort in World War II. Heil served as Wisconsin’s governor from 1939 to 1943. He died on November 30, 1949 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. [Source: by Nancy G.Williams, p.171-172,261]
