1877 – Elizabeth M. Conrad Heil Born

On this date the wife of Wisconsin Governor was born. Mrs. Heil was very active with the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital and the Shrine Crippled Children’s Hospital. Although her husband served two terms as governor, the couple only spent 75 days a year in Madison, preferring to stay in Milwaukee where Governor Heil ran the Heil Company, producing industrial products such as aircraft refuelers used in times of war. Mrs. Heil was also very active in the Order of the Eastern Star. [Source: by Nancy G. Williams, p.170-172]
