1893 – Ethwell "Eddy" Hanson Born

On this date Ethwell “Eddy” Hanson was born in Waupaca, Wisconsin. Hanson was a composer of popular songs and an organist in the early days of radio. He moved to Neenah, Wisconsin in the 1910s. In the late 1910s he was a member of John Philip Sousa’s Navy Band. In the 1920s he established himself in Chicago as a theatre and radio organist. Hanson returned to Waupaca in the 1960s and died in 1986, in King, Wisconsin. [Source: ]
