1916 – Donald Edgar Tewes Born

On this date Donald Edgar Tewes was born in Merrill, Wisconsin. Tewes graduated from University of Wisconsin Law School in 1940 and practiced in Merrill. He entered the service as a private in 1942 and became a combat intelligence officer with the Fourteenth United States Air Force’s Flying Tigers. He logged twenty-five combat missions in the China-Burma-India Theater. Tewes was discharged as a major in 1946. After serving as president of Tewes Plastics Corporation in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Tewes was elected as a Republican to Congress in 1957. He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1958 to the Eighty-sixth Congress. Tewes resides in Waukesha, Wisconsin. [Source: ]
