1962 – Michael J. Quann Dies

On this date Michael J. Quann died. Superintendent of Madison’s parks for over 20 years, Quann helped establish Henry Vilas Zoo. In 1907 he was hired by the Madison Park and Pleasure Drive Association. He was an associate of and , both prominent in developing Madison’s parks. In 1980 Quann Park, near the Alliant Center in Madison, was dedicated in his memory. Quann is buried in Resurrection Cemetery in Madison. [Source: , p.253]
