2000 – H. H. Bennett Studio and History Center Dedicated

On this date the H.H. Bennett Studio and History Center, a Wisconsin Historical Society site in the Wisconsin Dells, was dedicated. Oliver and Jean Dyer Reese, who gave the historic studio and their collection of Bennett’s original glass-plate negatives to the Society for operation as its newest historic site, were on hand to cut the ribbon. The occasion represented the culmination of the Reeses’ longstanding dream to turn over the property and the collection to the Society. They had operated the historic studio since the 1940s, the last generation of H. H. Bennett’s family to do so. The Bennett Studio and History Center is the ninth WHS site. []
