Kenosha Police Warn Hispanic Citizens to Be Wary of Advertisement for Identification Card

By The Racine News Team

Kenosha PoliceKenosha, WI – Promotional material written in Spanish has been circulating around the Kenosha area regarding the sale of secondary identification cards targeted at Hispanics. “USA ID Systems” produces the cards and has “USA ID” imprinted on them. The company claims the cards can be used as secondary identification for 5 years and are valid in all 50 states. The company also says the cards can help identify someone in such places as banks, hospitals, schools, and courts. The company is based out of Green Bay and charges $40 to make a card.

The Kenosha Police Department is advising citizens that these identification cards are not official and to be cautious. While the content of the advertisement might not necessarily be criminal in nature, it is misleading. The citizens should understand that these cards are not government sanctioned and would not have the same force of law that other forms of legitimate identification such as passports and visas would have. Anyone with concerns can contact the Wisconsin Department of Consumer Protection at datcp.state.wi.us.
