CREWE Lauds Milwaukee’s Solar Efforts
ByMadison, WI—The coalition Clean, Responsible Energy for Wisconsin’s Economy (CREWE) today recognizes the City of Milwaukee for making it easier for its residents to install solar power, following the ordinance passing through the Common Council on Tuesday. The measure now goes to Mayor Barrett for his signature.
“Wisconsin benefits as a whole when communities take proactive steps in environmental conservation,” Thad Nation, executive director of CREWE, said. “We hope other cities in the state follow Milwaukee’s example.”
Homeowners in Milwaukee can now take advantage of a “revolving loan program” in which they can take up to 15 years to repay—through their property tax—the installation costs of solar power (up to $20,000). Benefits for homeowners then include reduce energy costs from the solar power as well as incentives from Focus on Energy and Federal Investment Tax Credit.
