$35,000 bail for man charged with armed burglary

Lowell O Allen Jr, 22 of Racine has been charged with Burglary-Armed w/ Dangerous Weapon, Battery to Law Enforcement Officers, Fire Fighters or Commission Wardens, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer and Felon Possess Firearm. He is being held on $35,000 cash bond after making his initial appearance. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 14, 2015. According to records a hold has also been placed on him by the Department of Corrections.

According to the criminal complaint, on October 13, 2015 at aprox. 9:27 a.m., Racine Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Sydney Drive for reports of a suspicious person. Upon arrival officers spoke to a witness who described the suspect and stated he had kept walking from the back of a residence to the driveway and looking around. Officers were then flagged down by a witness who stated that the suspect was breaking into a residence down the block in the back yard.

Officers responded and observed the suspect exiting the back of the home, police gave the suspect orders but the suspect fled back into the house. Racine police established a perimeter and ordered the suspect out of the home, and again the suspect did not comply, according to the complaint. It was noted that one of the homes windows had been broken.

Officers entered the home and found that one room had been barricaded, an officer standing on the perimeter saw the suspect exiting through a window, grabbed the suspect attempting to take him into custody. The complaint states that the suspect continued to resist, pushing at the officers face and head and attempted to punch the officer.

The suspect ran a short distance and was taken into custody on Monticello Drive. Officers investigated the scene and located 2 handguns and a pellet gun that were not supposed to be in the location they were recovered. Also noted that was taken was a small amount of money which was found on the suspect.

According to the criminal complaint the defendant, had been convicted of burglary in April 2014 and had just been released from prison on September 1, 2015.
