According to the criminal complaint begins with the event of a drug-related robbery on Sept. 17 and ending with him being caught Oct. 13 in Lake County, Ill.
According to the complaint, Obregon told investigators he killed Tywon Anderson on Sept. 19 due to a robbery Anderson set up two days earlier.
Three people, including a family member of Obregon, reportedly arranged to sell marijuana to the victim but were instead robbed at gunpoint, the complaint states. The defendant allegedly told authorities that “nobody puts a gun to a family member.”
According to reports the defendant said he shot Anderson with a rifle while Anderson drove on 50th Street west of 47th Avenue, according to the complaint. Obregon then used the rifle to push the accelerator down and leaned over the top of Anderson to steer the vehicle before eventually leaving the vehicle in a corn field off Highway A. Anderson was reported missing Sept. 21.
