Bullet is an approx 1 yr old (est DOB 03/13/2015) neutered male Border Collie weighing in at approx 46 lbs and is fully grown. Bullet was rescued from a small, rural shelter in Oklahoma and arrived in WI March 13th. He is being fostered in Racine.
Bullet is dog and kid friendly (has been with kids as young as age 1), but has too much of a prey drive to do well in a home with cats or chickens. He is crate trained and has done well in the house thus far. He is obsessed with playing fetch, was tested as a possible candidate for a search and rescue dog, but did fail in the “distraction” category. He then did a trial run as a potential migratory bird pest management dog. However, what they believed to be herding drive was actually prey drive, so he unfortunately didn’t work out in that program as it’s a huge fine to the company if he were to injure one of the federally protected species- such as the Canadian Goose. He did get a lot of great training out of the program.
Bullet is eager to please and sits politely before he exits his crate. He is toy and treat motivated and will learn just about anything if a treat is involved. He has not shown food aggression behavior to food but can show possessive tendencies of high value toys, such as a rawhide. Bullet is a high energy dog who will need at least an hour exercise every day.
Bullet’s adoption fee of $350+tax includes neuter, rabies/distemper/bordetella vaccines, microchip, dewormed, heartworm negative and on preventative and health certificate from veterinarian.
