Jett is an approx 4 yr old (DOB 02/01/2012) neutered male Labrador Retriever/Hound mix. Jett weighs 105 lbs and needs to loose a few pounds. Regular walks would do wonders for this big guy- and he’d certainly appreciate them! Jett makes his way to Lucky Mutts Rescue as a local owner surrender. His family was going through a divorce and neither had the time or financial means to properly take care of him. Jett had spent the past few weeks alone in their former home- only getting attention a few minutes a day when his former family would swing by to feed him and let him outside to relieve himself. Now safe and very loved in a foster home, Jett is making the most of his unfortunate situation.
Jett is crate trained, housebroken and rides well in a car. He is trustworthy loose in the house. He doesn’t jump up on people. He is fostered with kids ages 1-16, cats and other dogs and does great with everyone although he can be a bit short tempered with bouncy puppies climbing all over him. He loves to play tug with the rope toy and fetches/retrieves the rope toy and ball. He can initially be strong on the leash but does amazing when the leash is wrapped around the waist and behind the elbows. We are confident his skills will improve as he gets out there and does more walking. He does have an unnaturally docked tail which appears to be the result of an old injury. However, this big, happy boy still wags it all the time without difficulty.
Jett’s one downfall is he does have some food allergies and has some areas of thin, patchy fur that are beginning to fill back in. We have also started him on coconut oil to help with his dry skin. To help with his allergies, he is currently eating “Nature’s Recipe Lamb Meal and Rice.” A 30 lb bag of this food costs about $40.00 and should last him about 3-4 weeks. We’d LOVE to see Jett celebrate his upcoming 4th birthday in his very own home surrounded by people who love him unconditionally. Jett is being fostered in Racine. His adoption fee of $300+tax includes neuter, rabies/distemper/bordetella vaccines, microchip, dewormed, heartworm negative and on preventative and health certificate from veterinarian.
