Burlington man charged with 7th OWI

kenneth chereck Kenneth J Cherek, 78 of Burlington has been charged with 7th OWI. He is being held on $5000 cash bond after appearing in Racine Circuit Court Monday afternoon.

According to the criminal complaint on June 18,2016 Deputies with the Racine County Sheriff’s office were dispatched to the Beachview Motel/Bar reference an intoxicated party who was trying to get into a car. Dispatched advised the driver had hit a motorcycle and had his keys taken away from him.

Upon arrival the Deputy identified the defendant as he walked away from his vehicle which showed damage. The Deputy spoke with witnesses who said the defendant has struck a motorcycle and caused damage to the cycle and the defendants vehicle.

Deputies made contact with the defendant inside the business while he was sitting at the bar. The defendant denied hitting the motorcycle. The complaint reads that the defendant appeared to have bloodshot glassy eyes, slurred speech and smelled strongly of alcohol. Deputies asked the defendant to perform field sobriety tests which he refused. He was transported to Burlington Memorial Hospital for a legal blood draw.
