Burlington Woman Arrested for 3rd OWI With Children In the Vehicle

Drunk-DrivingDorothy C Hallett 56 of Burlington has been charged with three count of OWI (3rd w/ Passenger < 16 Yrs Old) and three counts of Operating w/PAC-Passenger < 16 Yrs (3rd). She was given a $3,000 signature bond after making her initial appearance in Racine Circuit Court Tuesday afternoon. Her Preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 28, 2016

According to the criminal complaint on August 3,2016, Deputies with the Racine County Sheriff’s Office responded to calls for a possible intoxicated female leaving the McDonalds located at on Fox Lane, traveled southbound with three children in the vehicle. Deputies observed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop to check the welfare of the children in the vehicle. As the Deputy approached the vehicle the defendant was observed drinking a large amount of water. The Deputy observed the defendant had glassy eyes, and her speech was allegedly delayed with long pauses between each word

The complaint states that the defendant was asked to perform a Field Sobriety Test which according to reports, was unable to perform or follow instructions. A preliminary breath test was administered and the defendant was allegedly not cooperative during the test but the Deputy was able to obtain a valid reading of .10 BAC. The defendant was transported to Aurora Memorial Hospital for a legal blood draw and the results from the Wisconsin State Lab showed a .009.
