A 39 year-old Caleonia man has been charged with Battery,Disorderly Conduct, Child Abuse-Intentionally Cause Harm, Strangulation and Suffocation,Intimidate Victim/Damage Property and is being held on $20,000 cash bond after making his initial appearance today in Racine Circuit Court. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 29, 2015.
According to the criminal complaint, Caledonia Police responded to a residence in the Village of Caledonia on July 12,2015 for a report of family trouble. When officers responded the victim stated that the defendant and the victim were arguing in the car when he began and hitting the female victim, knocking off her glasses. The defendant told the woman to pull over so he could punch her in the face. The female victim told the defendant she was done being his punching bag and kept driving. According to police reports the defendant told the victim “What do you do with a dog that is bad? You beat it.”
Upon returning to the home, the female victim and defendant continued to argued and the man tried to take her phone away. The juvenile male came into the room and the defendant started punching the male victim in the face and choked him. The female victim was able to retrieve a gun, fearing for the safety of the juvenile, ordered the defendant to get off the male victim and to leave. Upon hearing that police had been called and were responding the defendant told the female victim it was all her fault and smashed her cell phone.
