Community tips lead to charges against Racine woman in theft

theft ARRESTED Brenda J. McMorris, 52 of Racine, has been charged with Retail Theft – Intentionally Take >$500 – $5000) and was given a $3,000 cash bond after making her initial appearance in Racine Circuit Court. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 17.

According to the criminal complaint on May 22, 2015, Racine Police were dispatched to Pearle Vison in the 2700 block of N Greenbay Road, reference a theft complaint. At the location the victim told police that the suspect came in and left the store with several pairs of eye glass frames valued at aprox $855.00.

On June 4, 2015, Investigators with the Racine Police Department received 2 tips from Crime Stoppers identifying the defendant as the suspect in the theft. Racine Police compared security footage of the theft to photos on file and were able to identify her. When presented with a photo line up the victim was also able to positively identify the defendant as the same person who stole the eye glass frames
