Couple charged with manufacturing Methampehtamines

suspects Brittany R Smith 30 of Sarasota Florida and Chase E Bedard, 33 also of Florida have been charged with Possession of Narcotic Drugs, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possess Drug Paraphernalia and Manuf/Deliver Amphetamine(<=3g). They were both given a $15,000 bond each after making their initial appearances in Racine Circuit Court this afternoon. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 12, 2016

According to the criminal complaint, on April 26, 2016 Mount Pleasant Police were dispatched to a residence for a possible burglary where the defendants were staying, Both parties were removed from a home the next day in Mount Pleasant after drug paraphernalia was found at the location (the complaint states that the paraphernalia has been removed when they went back on the 27th to removed the two parties.).

On April 28,2016 Mount Pleasant Police officers were called for people living in a tent in the area of the 900 block of Village Center Drive. Upon arrival officers located both parties in the tent along with drug paraphernalia as well as numerous batteries and decongestant pills which are used in the methamphetamine manufacture process. Additional items were seized including a diary that appeared to have the hand writing of SMITH and a recipe for manufacturing methamphetamine.

Following the arrests of the defendants, Mount Pleasant Police Officers returned to the home in Mount Pleasant and recovered more evidence. Officers contacted the Division of Criminal Investigations, to determine if these items were used in the methamphetamine making process and how to properly dispose of the items. Agents with DCI determined the presence of lithium and hydrochloric acid which is used in the manufacturing process, as well as methamphetamine waster and by-product the complaint reads.
