DNA match catches burglary suspect

burglary Travis A Williams, 22 of Racine has been charged with felony Burglary-Building or Dwelling. He made his initial appearance on Wednesday April 12, 2016 and was given A $10,000 bond.

According to the criminal complaint, on or about November 12, 2015 a resident had reported his home burglarized in the 1300 block of N. Main Street. The victim stated that at least $10 in silver dollars and two rings were taken. Racine Police collected physical evidence from the scene while included blood droplets on the exterior door and the inside of the home

The blood samples were submitted to the Wisconsin State Crime Lab for DNA comparison and were matched to the defendant. Investigators with the Racine Police Department stated they spoke with the defendant and listened to a call he made to an unknown male. In the call the defendant allegedly stated that he “caught a case” and was going to do time for it. The defendant was shown a video and when Investigators asked is he was the person in the video he stated he didn’t want to incriminate himself.
