Driver charged with Homicide by Intoxicated use of a vehicle after fatal Wednesday night accident

fatal accidentOn 11-04-2015 at 8:06 p.m., Mount Pleasant Police Officers were dispatched to the area of State Highway 31/South Green Bay Road and 16th Street in the Village of Mount Pleasant for a report of an Accident with injuries. It was initially reported that it was a possible three (3) car accident that was ‘head on” at the above location.

Upon arrival, Officers immediately checked on the parties involved in the crash. Officers quickly determined that it was only a two (2) car crash between a Dodge Neon and a SAAB Sport Utility Vehicle. The Dodge Neon had two (2) Male occupants, one driver and one front passenger, and the SAAB had only one (1) Male driver. Officers discovered that the passenger in the Neon was deceased at the scene due to the crash. The driver of the Neon was transported to the Emergency Room at the Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for his non-life threatening injuries. The Wisconsin State Patrol Traffic Reconstruction Unit was contacted to respond to that location to assist Mount Pleasant Police with the ongoing Investigation.

During the course of the Investigation t it was determined that Alcohol was a factor for the driver of the Neon. The Neon was driving Southbound on State Highway 31/South Green Bay Road when it failed to Yield while performing a left turn. The SAAB was northbound and due to the failure to Yield by the Neon a collision occurred and upon impact, the passenger lost his life. The name of that passenger will be released at a later date. The driver of the Neon was arrested and charged. The driver was identified as David J. Parr M/23 of Mount Pleasant. He was treated for his injuries and later transported to the Racine County Jail where he was held on the below charges.

The following charges were issued for the following individuals;

DAVID J. PARR:  1 count Homicide by Intoxicated use of a vehicle. WI SS# 940.09(1) (a)

1 citation for Failure to Yield while performing left turn WI SS#346.18(2)
