Racine – Energy Services, Inc. will be relocating on September 1, 2016 to the Dennis Kornwolf Service Center, 1717 Taylor Avenue, Racine. Energy Services, Inc. is Racine County’s contracted agency for administering the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP), and is the parent organization for a number of other energy related services, such as Keep Wisconsin Warm/Cool Fund, WE Energies WeCare, and the Heat for Heroes Emergency Assistance Program.
“Recognizing the financial challenges of our community, we are looking to integrate services and improve accessibility to programs by co-locating services within the Dennis Kornwolf Service Center,” stated Human Services Director, Hope Otto. “These programs, including energy assistance, provide a survival safety net for those most in need throughout Racine County.”
“Without question, the move will have a positive impact on the level and quality of services,” added Timothy Bruer, Executive Director of Energy Services, Inc. “The new location will prove very beneficial for the elderly, the disabled, our Veterans and families with young children because of the ease of having other related services offered within the same facility, such as Wisconsin Works, Wisconsin Shares, Veterans Services, Health Insurance, Employment Resource Center, and Foodshare.
” The Racine County WHEAP program handles over 30,000 calls for energy and emergency related assistance annually. In addition to the new location at the Dennis Kornwolf Service Center, satellite application sites will continue to be available throughout Racine County to ensure services and energy related assistance is available throughout the county.
