Kathleen Lyman, 45, of Racine has been charged with two counts of Child Abuse-Intentionally Cause Harm, and one count of Child Abuse-Recklessly Cause Harm. She was given a $10,000 cash bond after making her initial appearance today in Racine Circuit Courts. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 5, 2015.
According to the criminal complaint, investigators with the Racine Police Department arrested the defendant after she admitted to causing three areas of bruising to a child under the age of 2. The defendant told authorities, she claimed she was frustrated with the child’s crying and overall behavior. When confronted with the most severe injuries, the defendant alledgely admitted to biting the child The child had injuries to the ear, face and body.
The complaint states that the defendant could not understand the behavior of the children, even though the specific behavior she was describing could be perceived as normal toddler behavior, according to the reports.
