FREE Self-Defense Course, Fighting 4 Her, being offered on Saturday, April 30th

racine coalition against human traffickingRACINE, WI Racine Coalition Against Human Trafficking is partnering with SAFE International and SafeStart: Teen Dating Violence Awareness Program to bring a free self-defense course to women and girls in Racine. Two sessions will be offered: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016. The event will be held at the Racine Campus of Gateway Technical College in the Racine Building, Michigan Room.

Racine Coalition Against Human Trafficking hopes to empower women to feel confident and prepared in all situations life can throw at them! Courses will be focused on verbal diffusion during potentially dangerous situations and will equip local women and teens with the confidence and skills needed to stay safe in any and all circumstances.

Fighting 4 Her instructor, Bill Stedman, is the Managing Director for SAFE INTERNATIONAL MILWAUKEE SELF DEFENSE and is a certified partner with Safe International based out of Toronto, Canada. SAFE INTERNATIONAL is a mobile self-defense company that teaches 12,000 High School students per year in over 80 high schools in Canada, Australia, and the USA. SAFE’s High School curriculum is 5 hours in length and covers awareness/avoidance, then verbal and physical strategies. They use humor to connect with students to make learning fun, students are more willing to participant and share stories. SAFE’s goal is to empower 500,000 women by 2020, currently we are close to 200,000. SAFE also teaches at colleges, corporate lunch and learns (nicknamed laugh and learns), Women’s self-defense parties, realtors, health care providers, and more. SAFE is not a martial arts program instead teaches strictly self-defense not just from a physical standpoint, but also from a psychological, verbal, and emotional standpoint.

Bill Stedman has been involved in martial arts since the age of 4 and has always been interested in the practical aspect of reality self-defense for real life situations. Bill Stedman has taught approx. 1,250 women since joining SAFE INTERNATONAL four years ago. SAFE INTERNATOINAL MILWAUKEE has taught at Brookfield Central High School, Burlington High School, UW Waukesha, Carroll University, Churches, and more.

Bill also works full time as Firefighter/Paramedic for the last 19 years with the City of Waukesha. He enjoys working with the public and educating the community!
