On October 7th through the 9th, the Greater Racine Human Trafficking Task Force participated in Operation Cross Country IX. Operation Cross Country, led by the FBI, is a coordinated nationwide law enforcement effort focused on the recovery of victims of human sex trafficking.
Human sex trafficking affects communities throughout southeastern Wisconsin, both large and small. Locally the Greater Racine Human Trafficking Task Force partnered with numerous area jurisdictions to address sex trafficking throughout Racine and Kenosha Counties. As a result, 20 women were recovered and investigations have begun into the activities of several individuals suspected of exploiting women and girls.
“This operation was successful due to the outstanding partnerships we have with local state and federal law enforcement agencies. The support we receive from local and international businesses is also key to our success. As a task force we continue to focus on recovering sex trafficking victims and providing them with advocacy and services that they may need as well as bringing those that exploit them to justice.” said Investigator Neal Lofy of the task force.
This cooperative effort included the following law enforcement agencies and community partners:
