Illinois man faces 15 charges after high speed chase on June 15th

Kenneth Holeton , 36 of Elgin, IL has been charged with Battery, Disorderly Conduct,Strangulation and Suffocation, Theft-Movable Property <=$2500, Theft-Movable Property-Special Facts, Intentional Dognapping or Catnapping, Mistreatment of Animals/Cause Death, Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer, three counts of 1st-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Hit and Run, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, OWI (4th w/in 5 yrs), Operating While Revoked (Rev due to alc/contr subst/refusal). He was given a $50,000 cash bond after making his initial appearance in Racine Circuit Court.  His Preliminary hearing on June 24, 2015.

According to the criminal complaint on Tuesday June 16, 2015 at 10:30 Caledonia Police were dispatched to a residence  in the 1600 block of Wind Dale Drive for a complaint of battery and theft. According to the victim stated they were arguing over money that the victim  owed the suspect. According to reports the defendant than picked up a 5 foot ladder and began hitting him and choking him. Caledonia Police documented that the victim did have apparent injuries

The criminal complaint states that the defendant then took the victim’s play station and 2 year old dog and fled the scene.

An attempt to locate was put out for the suspect vehicle where Caledonia Police spotted it at Hwy 38 and Highway K. The defendant stopped on Highway K & Rodney Lane, while the officer was waiting for back up the passenger side door opened and the dog jumped out of the vehicle, and then took off

The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to assist where they began pursuing the defendant as he hit 90 m.p.h. through Franksville according to police reports.  The pursuit then traveled onto I-94 where the suspect lost control of his vehicle trying to avoid a semi and then striking the semi that and then hitting a concrete wall.

The complaint states that the defendant jumped from the vehicle and tried fleeing the Trooper and also threatening him. The defendant was tased and taken into custody, where the Trooper smelled like intoxicants. A warrant was served on the defendant for a blood draw.

Law enforcement also interviewed a female passenger who was with the defendant and she told authorities that she had no idea what was going on she believed they were going to visit the victim in Racine.
