Illinois men charged after stealing over $270,000 in vehicles from Racine dealership

police lightsLevar Outlaw of Richton Park,  IL has been charged with Drive or Operate Vehicle w/o Consent and Theft-Movable Property >$10,000, he was given a $10,000 cash bond after making his initial appearance in Racine Circuit Court Monday afternoon. Israel Staley of Richton Park, Il has been charged with seven counts of Theft-Movable Property >$10,000 and one count of Take and Drive Vehicle w/o Consent, he was given a $15,000 cash bond.

According to the criminal complaint on June 4, 2016 Mount Pleasant Police were on routine duty at Hwy 20 and 90th Street when they noticed a 2016 Ford F150 with a unique paint job. Officers were aware due to a crime alert of vehicles being stolen from Porcaro Ford and observed the driver of the vehicle matched security video of the thefts.

Officers initiated a traffic stop and positively ID the driver as Staley and that the vehicle was coming back stolen from Indiana. Both parties were detained and Outlaw was patted down and recovered from his person was a key fob for a new Ford vehicle and a screwdriver. Subsequent search of the stolen vehicle showed that two additional key fobs from Porcaro Ford, Illinois Dealer Registration Plates and screw drivers were recovered. One of the key fobs belonged to a 2016 Ford Expedition valued at over $62,000.

The complaint reads that Outlaw allowed police to search his cell phone and officers discovered text messages between the defendants showing texts referencing “orders” being placed for stolen vehicles. Six vehicles were stolen from Pocaro Ford valued at over $270,000.
