June 11th-Jeff Mattek Benefit/Retirement Party

jeff headerFriends and family are putting together a benefit to help a Sturtevant resident that has spent his life helping others and is in a time of need himself. The event will take place Saturday June 11th from 3-10 p.m. at the Hiawatha Bar located 9809 Durand Ave, in Sturtevant.

Jeff Mattek joined the Salem Rescue Squad in 1992. Jeff joined the Sturtevant Fire Department in 1994 and worked there part time until his injury in 2000. Jeff worked at Erickson Ambulance Service full time for the majority of his career as well. In the summer of 2000, Jeff was hurt at a fire in Sturtevant where he lost part of his lung capacity and usage. He has since been battling many health issues and finds himself hospitalized many times a year. At the beginning of 2016, Jeff had another episode that required hospitalization. This time, not only was his respiratory system affected, he now is faced with cardiac issues. After careful consideration, Jeff has been forced to ultimately retire unexpectedly. Without his income, his family has fallen on hard times and we are trying to raise money to get them through.

Come join us for a day of fun and memories and help out a friend in need.
