Lightning strike probable cause of Saturday afternoon fire on Shoop

RFD logoAn afternoon fire displaced a family of 5. The fire occurred during the thunderstorm. The occupants of the home heard a loud boom and within a few minutes noticed smoke. They exited the house and called 911. The fire crews found the fire in the attic in the residence of 2225 Shoop, and extinguished it within 20 minutes. The house sustained significant damage and the family has been displaced due to the damage that occurred . Red Cross was notified to assist the family with their immediate needs.
