The Board of Directors has issued a statement regarding the events that have transpired the past few weeks and would like to address the community by issuing a statement.
“Lucky Mutts Rescue, Inc (LMR) is a foster based, non-profit, no kill volunteer dog rescue licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. Lucky Mutts Rescue has an adoption center located at 9225 W. Beloit Rd in Milwaukee. LMR wishes to express their sadness regarding the conditions bestowed upon the dogs that were removed from the home of the former president of the organization in Racine, WI. As soon as the board of directors was made aware of the situation, the then president was removed from her position and is no longer affiliated with Lucky Mutts Rescue, Inc.
LMR has faced considerable public scrutiny; and will now be closely monitored by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. There are checks and balances that have been put in place to ensure this will never happen again. LMR will not walk away from these 22 dogs and will follow through with the permanent placement for these dogs, as well as, the other dogs in their care. With the support from other well established local rescues, experienced fosters, certified dog trainers and volunteers Lucky Mutts Rescue has removed the dogs from the Wisconsin Humane Society.
LMR wishes to express their appreciation to this organization for the care they have provided during this period. LMR is committed to taking the necessary steps that all dogs entrusted to their care are placed in nurturing foster homes until their permanent adoptive families can be found.”
