Deon P Downs, 18 of Racine has been charged with armed robbery and four counts of Bail Jumping-Misdemeanor. He is being held on $7,500 cash bond after making his initial appearance on Wednesday August 26, 2015 in Racine Circuit Courts.
According to the complaint, on August 12, 2015 Racine Police were dispatched to the area of 16th and Packard for an armed robbery. Officers spoke with the victim who stated that he had been robbed by two persons, one of which he knew as the defendant. The victim stated that he had just withdrawn money from an ATM at a local business and was walking home when the suspects approached him and began talking to him. The other suspect had his hands in his sweatshirt pocket when he pulled his hand out he was was armed with a gun and told the victim “Give me the money”. The suspects took the victims money and began leaving, laughing amongst themselves.
The complaint states that officers are familiar with the defendant due to alleged gang association and was known to be armed. On August 25, Racine Police were on duty when they recognized the defendant with another party in the 1900 block of 16th Street, where he was taken into custody for the August 12, 2015 armed robbery.
