Man charged with 10 felonies for crash that sent 6 to the hospital early Saturday morning

Roland Blade 29 of Racine has been charged with five counts of Reckless Driving-Cause Great Bodily Harm and five counts of Injury by Intoxicated Use/Vehicle. He appeared in Racine Circuit Court today and was given a $250,000 cash bond, his preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 1, 2015.

According to the criminal complaint, Racine Police and the Racine Fire Department responded on Saturday June 20th at 2:29 a.m. on Saturday to the 3700 block of North Main Street for a report of a single-vehicle crash that knocked down a tree.

the complaint states that, upon arrival police found several patients lying outside the vehicle, including a woman who screaming: “Help me! I don’t want to die! I can’t breathe! It’s hot!” Officers saw her legs dangling inside the passenger compartment of the white Mercury Mountaineer, her upper body had been thrown through the windshield, and her upper body was trapped under the hood in the engine compartment. According to witnesses the vehicle was traveling at 85-90 m.p.h. when the crash occurred

According to the criminal complaint the report states that the group including the passengers, ages 20, 22, 23, 25, and 25, and the defendant had been drinking at Kenny’s bar before the crash and were headed to an after-party, the complaint states.

One victim is on life support at this time.
