Man charged with 1st degree intentional homicide in 2001 shooting

1 William C. Myhre 32 of Racine has been charged with 940.01(1)(a) 1st-Degree Intentional Homicide and was given a $100,000 cash bond after appearing in Racine Courts Monday August 8th. A warrant for his arrest was issued on January 4, 2002. According to court records, the defendant was taken into custody on August 6, 2016. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 18, 2016

According to the criminal complaint on December 23,2001 Investigators with the Racine Police Department spoke to the victim and witnesses regarding a shooting in the 1500 block of State Street. The victim recognized the defendant as firing the shots which had struck him and tried to run from the area after making eye contact with the defendant before behing shot when a dice game was taking place in the area. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his upper shoulder area and his lower back area.

Officers responded behind Rondone Liquor and observed “100 people” running in all directions. Officers spoke with witnesses who stated that the defendant began shooting at the victim when he walked up to the crowd. Witnesses heard at least ten shots according to the criminal complaint
