Man charged with armed robbery at Midtown Market

ARMED+ROBBERY Curtis C McLemore 49 of Racine has been charged with on count of Armed Robbery, and one count of Possess Firearm-Convicted of a Felony. He was given a $20,000 cash bond after appearing Thursday in Racine Courts. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 26,2016.

According to the criminal complaint, on May 13,2016, Racine Police were dispatched to a robbery call at Midtown Market located at 1229 11th Street, upon arrival they spoke to the victim who stated that the suspect (identified based on clothing description and brace on right wrist) came into the store and purchased 2 4 packs of beer and a pack of Newport 100s. When the defendants used multiple credit cards that were declined the defendant allegedly grabbed the bag, headed out the door and pointed a black handgun at the victim stating “I don’t give a expletive”. The victim was able to give officers copies of the receipts of the declined transactions.

On May 17th, officers located the defendant matching the description and wearing clothing similar to the suspect at the time of the robbery. The defendant allegedly told Investigators “I don’t remember doing no robbery, but if I did, you said I did, ok man, but I didn’t remember doing it”. Investigator advised the defendant that his wallet contained the credit cards with matching numbers from the receipts at Midtown Market.
