Man charged with burglary of local beauty salon

brett johnson Brett A Johnson, 51 of Racine has been charged with felony Burglary-Building or Dwelling and misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property. He was given a $500 cash bond after appearing in Racine Circuit Courts on Monday afternoon.

According to the criminal complaint on May 24, 2016 Mount Pleasant Police responded to Angel’s Beauty Salon at 2221 Durand Ave reference a burglary. The victim stated that the burglary happened sometime between 8 and 11 p.m. on May 24th. someone broke into the salon by kicking in the back door. The victim reports that the suspect broke numerous items in the store, stole 20 and possibly urinated in the basement. The victim was able to provide officers with video showing what the suspect had done and it appeared the suspect was intoxicate due to his behavior. Police also recovered a bag containing beer at the scene.

Officers were able to locate video footage from a nearby convenient store where the same suspect purchased beer. Police were able to develop the defendant at the suspect from still photos and video footage and positively ID’d him. He was later located at the hospital being treated for overdosing on prescription pills and vodka.
