Kiwanis Pancake Day is one of the largest events of its kind in Wisconsin with expected attendance of 6,000. Over 350 volunteers including students from area high schools, the Explorer Scouts and members of the Racine Raiders and Racine Threat help to make the annual event possible. Celebrity Pancake flippers will be on hand too including House Speaker Paul Ryan, State Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and a host of other local politicians.
One of the biggest draws to Pancake Day is the entertainment, which draws on area schools and celebrities. The Real School High School band will be marking their return this year with an afternoon performance at 2 pm, while the McKinley Middle School Red Jazz Band, and Walden High School Jazz Band will perform earlier. The Kiwanis Youth Symphony, Gary Ricchio Project and Belle City Brass Works will be there too and the ultimate show stopper, King for a Cure Elvis impersonator Mike Bishop will put on his show starting at noon.
Tickets are $6.00 in advance and $7.00 at the door. Unlimited Pancakes will be provided as well as Sausages, Coffee, Milk and Juice. Children under 5 will be able to eat for free. Proceeds from the event will support Racine area Youth and Community service projects of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Racine.
