Milwaukee man arrested on multiple felonies after fleeing from police and crashing

Herbert T Stegall, 43 of Milwaukee has been charged with Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, Operating While Revoked (Rev due to alc/contr subst/refusal), Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer, 1st-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, Possess w/Intent-THC (<=200 grams), Possess Drug Paraphernalia. He was given a $25,000 cash bond after appearing in Racine Circuit Courts.

According to the criminal complaint on June 18th, Caledonia Police were doing registration checks in the area of CTH K and Morris Street. The officer stopped the defendant after the registered owner of the vehicle came back with a suspended drivers license. Officers initiate a traffic stop at CHT K just east of Deer Creek Drive. As the officer approached the vehicle he observed the defendant with marijuana on his lips and was chewing something. The officer observed a small plastic baggie with marijuana in it inside the defendants mouth. The defendant was ordered to spit the item out and place it on the center console.

The complaint readers that the defendant pulled away from police and sped off. Officers began pursing the vehicle. The defendant attempted to pass 4 vehicles through the round about at Highway K when he lost control of his vehicle rolling several times and striking a light pole. The defendant fled from the vehicle and began running towards the creek, the defendant made his way through the creek with officers following.

Officers found the defendant hiding in bushes and he was taken into custody. As officers were handcuffing the the defendant, he began resisting and was tased. As officers were securing the vehicle they found a shoebox with 180.5 grams of marijuana and a digital scale.
