The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department were alerted by dispatch of the vehicle being stolen and the location being tracked to Highway 50 and I-94. Deputies located the vehicle at KR and tried to initiate a traffic stop when the vehicle accelerated to speeds of 108 MPH into Racine County.
The criminal complaint states that the Wisconsin State Patrol positioned their squad with lights and siren in the middle of I-94 at Highway 11 in an attempt to slow the stolen vehicle. The defendant attempted to swerve around the State Patrol Squad when he lost control striking another vehicle and pushing it into the median wall.
The stolen vehicle rolled and landed on it’s roof. The defendant stated to authorities that he was the driver and fled because he didn’t want to go to jail. Deputies learned the defendants driving privileges were revoked and there was a warrant for his arrest. The passenger in the stolen vehicle suffered significant injuries and was transported by Flight for Life to Children’s Hospital.
