Mount Pleasant Police-23 year old driver dies after motorcycle accident

mppd1On 6-9-2015 at 2:39 pm the Racine County Communications Center received a report of a crash involving a motorcycle at the intersection of STH 31 (N. Green bay Rd.) and STH 38 (Northwestern Ave) in the Village of Mount Pleasant. Three vehicles were damaged in this incident.

A Mount Pleasant (MPPD) officer arrived on scene within two minutes after being notified. In addition, an off duty Paramedic from Erickson’s Ambulance Service stopped at the scene and offered his assistance. The paramedic and the MPPD officer utilized the defibrillator from his police car and administered CPR to the occupant who was unconscious at that time.

Unfortunately, the 23 year old driver of the motorcycle, from Racine died as a result of his severe injuries. His name is being withheld pending notifications. He was not wearing a helmet.

Preliminary investigation – A 69 year old female from Mount Pleasant was Northbound before she attempted to turn left through the intersection. At that time she collided with the motorcycle that was traveling southbound. It was believed that both drivers were facing a green light when the crash occurred. A second collision occurred when the motorcycle then collided with a stopped vehicle at the intersection.

The female driver was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured.

This crash is being investigated by the MPPD and the Wisconsin State Patrol – Crash reconstruction unit. No charges have been issued at this time- pending the results of the investigation.
