Mount Pleasant Police: Attempted car jacking overnight, suspect still at large

gun-crime1On 10/22/15 at 3:27am the Mount Pleasant Police received a call from a victim of an attempted carjacking at the Speedway gas station located at 6209 Washington Avenue in the Village of Mount Pleasant. The victim reported he had purchased items from inside the store and as he was placing the items inside his vehicle, the suspect approached him from the side of the building while displaying a pistol. The suspect then threatened to shoot the victim and demanded the victim get into the vehicle with him and drive. When the victim refused, the suspect fled south through the yards on foot.

The victim described the suspect as being a younger male black, approx. 5’10” with a thin build, wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. A police K9 was used to search the area for the suspect; however, the suspect was not located. There were no injuries suffered during the incident.
