On 6/26/2015 at 2:21 pm Mount Pleasant Police officers responded Kohl’s Department store located at 5500 Washington Ave after receiving a report of a Robbery that had just occurred. The suspect in this robbery, later identified as RICARDO MENDOZA, 34 from Racine, fled from the area in his vehicle prior to the police arriving at the scene.
Officers learned that the suspect, MENDOZA, stole merchandise from Kohl’s. He had also threatened that he had a gun upon being confronted by store security.
After taking the complaint at Kohl’s a Mount Pleasant officer followed up on leads and eventually located MENDOZA driving his vehicle. Shortly after the officer got behind MENDOZA’S vehicle MENDOZA exited and fled on foot in the 1900 block of West Lawn Ave. in the city of Racine.
The Racine Police Department along with their K-9 squad assisted with the search for MENDOZA after officers from both departments set up a perimeter in that area. Eventually MENDOZA was located hiding in a relatives residence located in the 1900 block of Monroe Ave. in the city of Racine.
MENDOZA was arrested for Robbery and Reckless Endangering Safety. MENDOZA also received one citation for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. This case was referred to the Racine County District Attorney’s office.
