Mount Pleasant Police: Woman’s body found by railroad tracks

mppd1On Saturday 01-09-2016 at 2:08 pm a train conductor from the Union Pacific Railroad Company contacted the Racine County Communications Center because he observed a body lying motionless adjacent to the railroad tracks near Johnson Wax.

This was located near the 1900 block of Willow Rd. Officers from the Mount Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) and rescue personnel from South Shore Fire Department immediately responded to the scene.
Shortly after arrival paramedics determined that the person resting near the tracks was deceased. The body was identified as a 45 year old female from Mount Pleasant. She did present with recent visible injuries to her upper body.

Investigators from the MPPD, Union Pacific Railroad Police, and the Racine County Medical Examiners Office determined that based on present injuries and the evidence collected, the death likely involved the deceased being struck by a train. This is an active investigation. However, it does not appear to involve foul play.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending the notification of family members.
