Mt. Pleasant woman burned after falling into fire pit

PolicesquadlightsOn 9/12/15 at 11:29pm the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to a home in the 6700 block of Ptarmigan Road for a 57 year old female that had fallen into a fire pit and suffered burns to her legs, torso, and head. Upon arrival the burn victim was conscious and able to speak with officers. She told officers that she had fallen into the fire pit. Several people saw her in the fire pit and helped pull her out when they then dialed 911 and began treating her. The fire pit was on the backyard patio of the residence and made of landscaping bricks. The owners of the residence were having a party which began earlier that afternoon.

The South Shore Fire Dept transported the victim to All Saints-Wheaton Franciscan Hospital where she was then flown by Flight for Life to Milwaukee due to her injuries.
