On 08-17-15 at approximately 3:56 pm the Racine County Communications Center received a 911 call for a possible drug overdose in the Village of Rochester. The 911 caller stated that they found a female that was slumped over and unresponsive in a lawn chair in front of her house. As squads were responding to the scene the female stopped breathing and CPR was started by the people at the residence.
Upon the arrival of Racine County Sheriff Deputies, they took over the patient care and determined the cause of the medical emergency to possibly be from the ingestion of prescription narcotics, and administered one dose of Naloxone Hydrochloride (Narcan) to the patient. Once the dose was given the patient started breathing and became more alert.
The investigation into this incident showed that this medical emergency was the result of a possible suicide attempt and the patient was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Racine Sheriff’s deputies are trained in the use of Naloxone Hydrochloride (Narcan) which is available for all Racine Sheriff patrol cars.
