Racine man appears in court after he fled the scene of multiple hit and runs on July 10th

andrew schurianAndrew M Schurian, 28 of Racine has been charged with OWI (3rd), Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, Criminal Damage to Property and Disorderly Conduct. He was given a $1,000 cash bond after making his initial appearance in Racine Circuit Courts Tuesday afternoon. A Pre-trial conference has been scheduled for 08-11-2016.

According to the criminal complaint on July 10th shortly after midnight, officers with the Racine Police Department were dispatch to the corner of LaSalle and English Streets. Upon arrival officers spoke to a witness who stated they had followed the defendant who had been driving a Jeep and hit multiple vehicles and caused property damage as it traveled through Racine before crashing into a cement front porch in the 1100 block of Goold

Multiple witnesses called into police a physical description of the defendant and the direction he fled on foot after crashing on Goold Street. Officers were able to identify the party who was found walking in the 1800 block of LaSalle Street. As officers were trying to take the defendant into custody he started to resist, making a fist and took a boxers stance. The defendant was decentralized to the ground and continued to fight with two officers who suffered injuries from the incident. As the defendant was placed in a squad car the defendant began kicking the rear passenger door until the bolts that secure the door broke off. He was taken to Wheaten Franciscan All Saints and stated he had been drinking but refused a blood test. A warrant was obtained for a blood test which at the time of publishing the results are not known.
