Racine man arrested for 4th OWI with children in the car

Drunk-DrivingEdward G Canady, 55 of Racine has been charged with three counts of OWI (4th w/ Passenger < 16 Yrs Old), and 3 counts of Operating w/PAC-Passenger < 16 Yrs (4th). He made his initial appearance in Racine Circuit Court and was given a $4,000 signature bond.  His preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 15, 2015

According to the criminal complaint on May 25, 2015 at 9:30 p.m. officer on duty with the Racine Police Department observed a vehicle was weaving and the driver’s side stop lamp was defective, officers ran the plate which also came back expired.

Officers initiated a traffic stop, when officers stepped out to speak with the defendant they could smell the odor of alcohol on his person. While speaking to the defendant police observed that his speech was slurred and slow, and his eyes were glassey and blood shot. Police also noticed three minor children in the vehicle, the complaint states.

The defendant was transported to Wheaten Franciscan for a legal blood draw which according to the complaint came back with a 0.170g/100ml.
